Context knowledge for INSPIRE
Introduction to INSPIRE ---- (EIF= legal)
The aim of this module is to introduce the INSPIRE Directive, its background, development and expected impact.
Module metadata Access the Module
Basics of INSPIRE Data and service sharing ---- (EIF= organisational, technical)
Main elements of the INSPIRE Directive chapter on Data and Service Sharing and main requirements of the INSPIRE Regulation harmonising access to data and services.
Module metadata Access the Module
Basic concepts of XML and GML ---- (EIF= organisational, semantic, technical)
Concepts of XML, GML and UML class diagrams and how they are related to each other.

Basics of INSPIRE Data Specification ---- (EIF= legal, semantic, technical)
The module aims to teach participants on the INSPIRE data specification development approach. The module explains the standardized approach, the different interoperability components to be taken into account and how this was implemented in INSPIRE. The different steps are described in detail and illustrated with examples in the field of biodiversity. Demonstrations and hands-on exercises are part of the module in order illustrate the method and test it on some use cases.

Data Quality ---- (EIF= organisational, technical)
Concepts of geospatial data quality and how the concepts are applied for specifying geospatial data quality according to international standards.

Basic of INSPIRE Networking Services ---- (EIF= organisational, technical)
The module introduces the concept of a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). It describes and illustrates the 5 types of INSPIRE network services (discovery, view, download, transformation and invoking). It explains the link to existing standards of ISO and OGC (e.g. CSW) and also discusses the INSPIRE implementing rules that are applicable including conformity aspects.

Data Harmonisaton ---- (EIF= organisational, semantic, technical)
This module explains the basic concepts of data harmonisation in general and specifically schema translation.

Advanced technical Modules
INSPIRE advanced ---- (EIF= legal)
This Module deals with how INSPIRE can become a key enabler in e-Government business processes. It places the INSPIRE initiative in the context of other initiatives and broader technological developments. The module explains INSPIRE potential future developments and its maintenance programme.
Module metadata Access the Module
Metadata and Catalogue Services ---- (EIF= organisational, semantic, technical)
This Module describes what metadata is and how important it is for data access within a distributed computing environment.
Module metadata Access the Module
INSPIRE Network Services advanced ---- (EIF= organisational, echnical)
This Module introduces to the implementing rules for network services and provides some guidelines based on best practices throughout Europe to set-up a conformant and performant network service (how to set-up a WMS, a WFS and a CSW).

Procedures for Data and Metadata Harmonisation ---- (EIF= organisational, semantic, technical)
This Module explains how to transform heterogeneous source datasets and metadata according to the relevant INSPIRE target schemas.
Module metadata Access the Module
Examples of data transformation ---- (EIF= organisational, semantic, technical)
This module provides transformation examples of a source dataset into a dataset compliant to the INSPIRE Data Specifications.
Module metadata Access the Module
Metadata and data validation for INSPIRE ---- (EIF= organisational, semantic, technical)
This module provides validation examples of datasets and metadata against the Requirements of the INSPIRE Data Specifications.

Technological trends and innovative solutions
LusTRE, Linked Thesaurus Framework for the Environment ---- (EIF= semantic, technical)
The Linked Thesaurus Framework namely LusTRE has been developed as part of the infrastructures for the INSPIRE implementation. It provides interlinking among different environmental domain thesauri and code lists and offers access to them as one virtual integrated linked data source – which shall support better metadata compilation and metadata discovery for describing and finding INSPIRE data and services. The learning objective of this module is to offer a knowledge of LusTRE: the content of the framework as well as the set of services available to exploit them.

Introduction to Sensor Web enablement ---- (EIF= technical)
The module discusses the principles of OGC Sensor Web Enablement and the standards for modeling and encoding measurement data as well as sensor metadata. The modules also treats web services for providing access to observation data, controlling sensors and event notification and discusses typical application scenarios for the Sensor Web technology and different approaches for the deployment of Sensor Web Systems.
